Privacy Policy — Price Sentry
Last updated: 12 July 2026
Price Sentry ("the App", "we", "us") is a competitor-price monitoring and price-positioning tool for Shopify merchants. This policy explains exactly what data the App accesses, why, and how it is protected. Price Sentry is Protected Customer Data Level 0: it does not request, read, store, or process any order or customer personal data.
What we access
- Your store's own catalog — product titles, variants, SKUs and current prices (the same public prices a shopper sees), via
read_products, plus which products are published viaread_publications. - Public competitor list prices & stock status from the competitor product URLs you add (e.g. eMAG, Altex). We read those pages the same way any visitor's browser would (JSON-LD / Open Graph / microdata) — never logging in, never accessing anything behind authentication.
- The competitor labels/URLs and optional unit cost you enter (the unit cost is used only for the reprice simulator's calculation).
What we never access
- Orders, line items, transactions, refunds or fulfillment. Customer names, emails, phone numbers, addresses or any PII. Payment, checkout or analytics data. We never request the order or customer scopes (
read_orders,read_customers,read_all_orders) — they are not in the app's scope list at all. - We never auto-change your prices, and we send no store data to any third-party AI/LLM — the positioning, trend and margin logic is plain arithmetic on our own server.
How we use it
- To show a watched product's competitive position (rank, gap vs cheapest/median competitor), a pricing-health score over the products we could compare, a 30-day competitor price history to help you spot undercuts, and the reprice/margin simulator you run yourself.
- We do not sell or share your data and never use it for advertising or profiling.
Security & retention
- Data is transmitted over TLS. Your Shopify access token is held server-side only, in the App's own database: it is never returned to the browser, it is redacted from our logs, and it is deleted when you uninstall.
- Uninstalling stops all processing. On Shopify's
shop/redactevent (~48h after uninstall) we delete your shop record and everything hanging off it — watchlist, competitor URLs, price readings, comparisons, your access token and any performance samples — except one record kept by design, which we name rather than gloss over: the webhook delivery ledger row (your myshopify.com domain, Shopify's event id, the topic and a timestamp), the replay-protection entry that stops a re-sent webhook being processed twice. That row contains no prices and no customer data. - The GDPR
customers/data_requestandcustomers/redactwebhooks are answered truthfully: we hold no customer personal data.
